Welcome Guest
LL4Education [site blog] and [site forums] is social networking site available for free to educators. Our sister site - The Learning Landscape for Schools - uses exactly the same software to provide a safe place where you can use social networking with your students (up to 18).
Please note that LL4Education varies from the LL4Schools site in several very critical ways:
- This site allows self-registration - LL4Schools does not.
- This site allows you to make all profile fields public - LL4Schools does not.
- This site allows public comments - LL4Schools does not.
- This site carries advertising - LL4Schools does not.
LL4Schools was set up specifically to provide a safe environment for schools to use blogging and other web2.0 tools with their pupils so giving them the opportunity to express themselves to a global audience and work with students from around the world. All user accounts are created at a registered school's request so we have complete traceability and a single point of contact within each establishment.
LL4Education will allow you to gain experience with these tools for free: there is no need to take out a subscription for your school. At the same time we hope to build a community of educators here for the discussion of all aspects of teaching and learning.
In addition to blogs users have wiki pages, an rss aggregator, file storage, social bookmarks, an e-portfolio, a presentation tool, site wide forums and can make "friends" and create communities of common interest: any user can create a new community or join and existing one.
Take a look at the Documentation community pages on LL4Schools and the screencast tutorials.
The LL4Schools site blog is fed into the LL4Education site blog so you don't need to read them both. Why not check out what people are saying here at LL4Education right now? Find others with similar interests and goals. Here are some example users: John Hackett, Clive Jeffery, lizhitchcock If you like what you see here at LL4Education then why not find out more about The Learning Landscape for Schools? If you are a teacher you can register your school online. This site is open (and free!) for all those involved in education not just teachers so please register and invite colleagues to join as well. We hope this site will become a place for all educators to come and discuss anything to do with teaching and learning not just ICT, the internet and social networks. If you see anything on this site that you think inappropriate then please contact us at abuse@ll4education.co.uk. Blog posts can be flagged as inappropriate (look for the "FLAG" button on the entry's page) which will alert us so we can take further action if required.
On the LL4Schools site there are also resources and links to other sites in the Documentation community which offer advice and support on various issues around internet safety including a link to Childnet's advice on being SMART online.
